दुनिया के सबसे बड़े वैक्सीन निर्माताओं में से एक पुणे स्थित सीरम इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ इंडिया के टर्मिनल-1 गेट पर आज (जनवरी 21, 2021) आग लग गई। इस दुर्घटना में कितना नुकसान हुआ, फिलहाल इसका कुछ पता नहीं है। मौके पर दमकल की 5-10 गाड़ियाँ आग बुझाने पहुँची हैं। कहा जा रहा है कि यहाँ पर वैक्सीन की कई करोड़ डोज स्टोर करके रखी गई थीं।

Well Chinese don't know the difference, they use same vaccine for everything. Somehow efficiency of those Chinese vaccines are not questioned.

आनंद रंगनाथन ने इस घटना की वीडियो को अपने ट्विटर पर साझा किया है। वीडियो में देख सकते हैं कि सीरम इंस्टिट्यूट में लगी आग से हवा में बहुत धुआँ हो गया है। वह लिखते हैं, “covishield वैक्सीन बनाने वाली कंपनी सीरम इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ इंडिया में बड़ी आग लगी है। आशा है कि सभी सुरक्षित हैं।”
कुछ रिपोर्ट्स में कहा जा रहा है कि बीसीजी टीका बनाने वाली इमारत में आग लगी है। सीरम इन्स्टिट्यूट के इस हिस्से में नया प्लांट है। पुणे के सीरम इंस्टिट्यूट की दूसरी मंजिल पर आग लगी है। घटना की सूचना पाते ही दमकल गाड़ियों के अलावा पुलिस भी मौके पर पहुँच गई है। राहत कार्य शुरू हो गया है।
